Chicago Bulls -- Activated F-G Jud Buechler from the injured list. Placed F Corie Blount (hip) on the injured list.

Los Angeles Clippers -- Suspended F Lamond Murray indefinitely for disciplinary reasons.

Orlando Magic -- Activated C Tree Rollins from the injured list. Placed G Brooks Thompson (left hip flexor strain) on the injured list.

Colleges

Boston University -- Announced that West Potomac basketball G Billy Beal signed a national letter of intent.

Chicago State -- Named Kimberly McQuarter women's basketball coach.

University of the South -- Named Mark Webb AD.

Wilmington College -- Canceled the rest of its baseball season because most of its players broke school rules.

Football

Carolina Panthers -- Signed Indianapolis Colts S Jason Belser to an offer sheet.

Chicago Bears -- Agreed to terms with QB Steve Walsh on a one-year contract.

Cleveland Browns -- Signed free-agent DT Tim Goad, who had been with the New England Patriots. Signed free-agent CB Johnny Thomas, who had been with the Washington Redskins. Re-signed DT Pio Sagapolutele, G Mike Schad and DL Mario Johnson.

Detroit Lions -- Traded RB Derrick Moore to the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick.

Hockey

NHL -- Suspended Dallas Stars RW Shane Churla for four games after he resisted a linesman and got involved in a secondary altercation Sunday. Named Detroit Red Wings D Paul Coffey Player of the Week.

Buffalo Sabres -- Signed C Brian Holzinger to a three-year contract.

Detroit Red Wings -- Announced that Sid Abel, who centered the club's fabled Production Line with Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay on the wings, will have his No. 12 retired April 28.

Montreal Canadiens -- Sent RW Chris Murray to AHL Fredericton.

St. Louis Blues -- Recalled G Geoff Sargent on an emergency basis from IHL Peoria.

Washington Capitals -- Signed LW Alexander Kharlamov to a three-year contract. Signed LW Richard Zednik to a two-year contract. Signed D Alexandre Alexeev to a one-year contract.

IHL -- Named Denver Grizzlies G Tommy Salo, now with the New York Islanders, Most Valuable Player after he posted a 2.60 goals-against average.
