Location changes for budget session in Taneytown

A meeting in Taneytown Thursday to discuss the proposed fiscal 1996 budget for Carroll County has been changed to the Runnymede Elementary School cafeteria, 3000 Langdon Drive.

The 7 p.m. meeting had been scheduled at the Taneytown branch of the Carroll County Public Library.

County Budget Director Steven D. Powell and County Commissioners will explain the proposed budget and issues facing the county in the next five years. They will talk about the proposal to raise the piggyback income tax to 60 percent from 50 percent.

A similar meeting is scheduled today at the Mount Airy branch of the library.


* Union Bridge: Union Bridge firefighters responded to investigate a report of an open 911-line call at midnight Thursday. They were out 30 minutes.

Taneytown firefighters responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding in a building in the 3700 block of Baptist Road at 9:58 p.m. Thursday. They were out 25 minutes.
