Nicolini to run at Auburn

April 14, 1995|By Steven Kivinski

Annapolis distance runner Kristen Nicolini recently signed a national letter of intent to attend Auburn next fall on a full track scholarship.

Nicolini, a two-time national champion in the mile and an All-Metro performer in both cross country and track and field, will run indoor and outdoor track and cross country for the Tigers of the Southeastern Conference.

"It's an up-and-coming program and after weighing all of her options, she thought Auburn best fit her needs," said Annapolis coach Brian Funk. "She got along well with the teammates on her visit and she trusts the coaches. I think she'll be able to grow best with Auburn."

Nicolini also considered Villanova, a school that recently signed Nicolini's rival, Krissy Jost of Perry Hall.
