Outlook: With Tuesday's win over Miami, the Knicks moved two games ahead of the Indiana Pacers for the second spot in the Eastern Conference. C Patrick Ewing (24.2 ppg) leads the Knicks who, with a second-place finish in the conference, could clinch home-court advantage in the playoffs up until the conference finals. Bullets F Juwan Howard returned from a sprained right ankle last night against the Atlanta Hawks. F Don MacLean (sore right hand) and G Rex Chapman (strained abdominal muscle) missed last night's game and are unlikely to play tonight. The Bullets confirmed that G Scott Skiles will undergo surgery to repair torn ligaments in his right wrist.
