Police charge man, 18, with battery, maiming

A Brooklyn Park man was arrested and charged with battery Tuesday afternoon after another man was slashed, police said.

Floyd Williams, 26, was treated at Harbor Hospital Center for cuts on two fingers of his right hand, a cut on his left wrist and one on his left cheek, police said.

Mr. Williams told police that another man punched him in the face and slashed him with a box cutter. Before the attack, the man told the victim, "This is for Denise," police said.

The victim said he knew his attacker, police said.

Anthony Kenneth Taylor, 18, of the 200 block of E. 11th Ave. was charged with battery and with maiming by cutting.

Man, 36, was beaten by 2 in Brooklyn Park

A Baltimore County man was beaten Monday night in Brooklyn Park, county police said.

Scott Brown, 36, was treated at Harbor Hospital Center for a severely cut finger and bruises on his face, police said. Officer Richard Colmus found him sitting on the sidewalk in the 4600 block of Fourth St. about 10 p.m., police said.

Mr. Brown told the patrolman that two men he did not know had beaten him without provocation and cut his finger. Police said county paramedics took Mr. Brown to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

* Brooklyn Park: Someone broke into a home in the 4700 block of Ritchie Highway between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday and stole an $800 Zenith 19-inch television/videocassette, police said. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.
