Georgalas scores 5, lifts Loyola by Hofstra, 15-7

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Freshman attackman Chris Georgalas scored a career-high five goals as No. 6 Loyola toppled No. 13 Hofstra, 15-7, last night before 2,276 at Hofstra Stadium. Junior midfielder Brian Duffy also contributed a career-high four goals with one assist.

The Flying Dutchmen closed within 9-6 on an extra-man goal by Paul Judge with 12:21 remaining in the third quarter. Georgalas then scored two goals in a 6-0 fourth-quarter run as the Greyhounds took a 15-6 lead with 12:51 left in the game.

The Greyhounds held Hofstra scoreless for 17 1/2 minutes during this run.

Georgalas also scored two goals in an early 5-0 run that gave the Greyhounds a 5-1 lead with 14:29 left in the second quarter. Loyola never trailed after this span, leading by at least two goals the rest of the game.

Loyola (7-1), which has won two straight, outshot Hofstra 51-35. Loyola goalkeeper Tim McGeeney made 11 saves. Kevin Jacobs led the Flying Dutchmen with two goals and three assists.
