Spring craft fair is tomorrow at Chesapeake High

Browse the tables of more than 100 artisans from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at the annual spring craft fair, sponsored by the Chesapeake High School Band Boosters.

The event will be spread over the school gym and cafeteria.

Hand-crafted items will include gifts and decorative items for Easter and Mother's Day, personalized sweat shirts and T-shirts and jewelry for all ages. Food and refreshments will be sold and the Band Boosters will be hawking baked goodies at their own table.

Admission is free, and free child care is available. Proceeds will benefit the Chesapeake High School Band. The school is at 4798 Mountain Road.

Enjoy an evening out and dinner, too. The St. Jane Frances Home School Association is having its annual spring fashion show on April 28 in the school hall.

Tickets are $20 per person. A cash bar will open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m.

The fashion show, featuring clothing for the whole family from Fashion Bug, T. J. Maxx, Kids 'R Us and Dakada Sports, will begin at 8 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit St. Jane Frances School.

The Pasadena Sportfishing Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday the Orchard Beach Fire Hall on Solley Road.

The evening's speaker will be Sonny Forrest, captain of the "Fin Finder," birthed at Solomons Island. He will be discussing tips and techniques for landing those tackle-busting trophy rock and drum fish.

A hot turkey platter, hamburgers, pizza and refreshments will be on sale before and during the meeting, proceeds to benefit Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Company. An auction of fishing items will be held after the meeting.

The Riviera Beach Softball intramural tryouts postponed from last Sunday have been rescheduled for 1 p.m. this Sunday at Rock Creek Park Field No. 4.

Girls 12 and under will compete in the fast-pitch county league games, plus two or more local tournaments.

The Stoney Creek Democratic Club has announced its April calendar of events.

On Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the club will have a "$7 Party," featuring a hot platter, munchies, beer and setups. The group "Jack B & She" will provide the music.

* The club will welcome U.S. Rep. Ben Cardin at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The 3rd District Democrat will assess the first 100 days of the new Congress and discuss issues of local interest.

* State Sen. Philip Jimeno and Del. Joan Caden will present the 1995 legislative report at 8 p.m. April 19. The community is invited. Refreshments will be served.

* The club is selling tickets for its bull and oyster roast planned for April 29. Tickets are $15 per person. Call 255-7739.
