Capitals Tonight

April 04, 1995

Opponent: New York Islanders

Site: Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, N.Y.

Time: 7:30

TV/Radio: ESPN/WMAL (630 AM)

Outlook: The Capitals are hot (12-2-2 in their past 16 games), and the Islanders are not (1-9-1 in their past 11). New York also is playing without three of its top four defensemen -- Darius Kasparaitis (knee surgery), Rich Pilon (severely sprained ankle) and Scott LaChance (broken ankle) -- and cannot settle on a starting goalie. Tommy Soderstrom (4-9-2, 3.19 goals-against average) and Jamie McLennan (6-10-2, 3.25) are splitting time. C Ray Ferraro leads the team in scoring with 15 goals and 15 assists and C Pierre Turgeon is next with 13 goals and 13 assists. Washington RW Dave Poulin (groin), D Craig Berube (virus), LW Keith Jones (foot, ribs) and G Rick Tabaracci (flu) are out.
