Dog bites burglary suspect in Lothian

March 31, 1995

A Calvert County man was bitten by a police dog and arrested on burglary charges after a break-in Wednesday at a Lothian store, county police said.

The man was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released.

Southern District officers went to the Hair Co. store in the 5400 block of Southern Maryland Blvd. around 1:20 a.m. to investigate a burglary alarm, police said.

The officers found a 1988 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck parked near the store. They checked the front of the business and saw a man inside, police said. The man ran out a back door and into nearby woods.

Police surrounded the area and sent a dog into the woods. The dog bit the suspect after he resisted arrest, police said.

John Joseph Mister, 29, of the 2600 block of Holland Drive in Dunkirk was charged with burglary, theft and destruction of property, police said.
