New art film discussion series at the Charles begins in April

March 31, 1995|By Stephen Hunter

Cinema Sundays at the Charles, the series of pre-release art films at the Charles Theater introduced and discussed by an unannounced critic, will resume April 9.

The first series, which began March 5, drew more than 400 viewers per screening, and the club, run by local cinema buff George Udel, ended up with an enrollment of 353.

The new series will encompass six films, to be shown April 9, April 23, May 7, May 21 and June 4 and June 11. Titles may not be listed, but . . . the first one is about singing really high and what a fella has to do to get up there.

The doors open at 10 a.m., and the screenings commence at 10:30. The price -- $60 for all films, $50 for current members -- includes coffee and pastry.
