Save-A-Heart donates $5,000 to fire company

The Save-A-Heart Foundation recently presented the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department with a donation of $5,000 for ambulance equipment.

The Save-A-Heart Foundation, based in Reisterstown, has dedicated itself to providing life-saving equipment and cardiac care units to area hospitals and volunteer fire companies. The Sykesville donation resulted from a recent fund-raiser sponsored by the foundation.

FIRE

* Bird Hill: Engines from Gamber, Reese, Westminster and Winfield were dispatched to a house fire in the 3100 block of Sykesville Road at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday. Units were out 36 minutes.

* Sykesville: Sykesville assisted Howard County at a house fire in the 12300 block of Howard Lodge Road in Howard County at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday. Units were out 22 minutes.
