Church to hold final Lenten supper

The final supper program of this Lenten season will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church.

This week's program, sponsored by the United Methodist Men, will feature Ken Steward in a portrayal of Peter. Everyone is welcome at the evening of food and fellowship.

The church is at 110 Townsend Ave.

A 10-week painting class for seniors will run from noon until 2 p.m. beginning April 6 at the Brooklyn Park Library Community Room, 1 E. 11th Ave.

Advance registration will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Brooklyn Park Elementary School will have Career Day on April 28.

Administrators are looking for community members to spend some time talking to students about their jobs and the kinds of skills and training it takes to secure a job in that field.

If you would be interested in sharing your knowledge with the students, call 222-6590.

The Student Government Association at Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle School will sponsor a spring dance from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the cafeteria.

* The Enrichment Program is always looking for parents and community members who are willing to donate their time and expertise to help school programs. If you, or someone you know, can teach or work with the students, call 789-8500, Ext. 220 for more information.

The North County High School band will sponsor a McDonald's Night from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. tomorrow at the fast food restaurant on Nursery Road.

Twenty percent of the profits from that three-hour period will be donated to the band to help defray costs of uniforms and instruments. One lucky student who stops by to eat will receive a $20 gift certificate from Marley Station Movies.

* The PTA Executive Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in the conference room. Discussion will include plans for the spring flea market.

* Congratulations to Nadra Wass, a senior, who has been

selected as a finalist in the 1995 National Merit Scholarship program.

The Olde Brooklyn Park Security Patrol is having an Open House from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Brooklyn Park Elementary School, 200 14th Ave.

Members of the patrol will talk about the program and its goals and will recruit new members.

Are you ready to put your body in a bathing suit for the summer? If the answer is no, you have one more chance to sign up for step training classes.

The eight-week program, sponsored by the county Department of Recreation and Parks, will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning April 3.

Classes will be held at Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road.

This aerobic training class uses a step bench to attain overall body fitness. Steps will be provided.

Registration fee is $45.50. Class size is limited, so call 222-7313 to reserve a space.

Harbor Hospital Center news: The arrival of a new baby means new experiences for everyone, including grandparents. The hospital is conducting a Grandparenting Class that offers information about the latest techniques in childbirth and child care.
