Around the house

* When broiling, pour a cup of water into bottom of broiler pan. Grease will drip into water and cleaning will be a breeze.

* Always remove spots from outside the dishwasher, particularly near the rim of the door opening.

This will prevent stains from being baked on when appliance is running.

* Place a thick rubber mat (sold in stationery stores) beneath food processor, electric coffee grinders and other appliances. This will will cut down on the noise when appli

ances are turned on.

In the garden

* To water houseplants, use water at room temperature. Let tap water sit a day to eliminate chlorine.
