No. 1 Wake Forest (26-5) vs. No. 4 Oklahoma State (25-9) NCAA TOURNAMENT

March 24, 1995

What: NCAA East Regional semifinal

Where: Byrne Meadowlands Arena, East Rutherford, N.J.

When: Tonight, 7:40

TV: Channel 13

Outlook: This contest matches up two teams with remarkably similar looks. Each squad is led by a great center, a great guard and a cast of solid role players. Wake Forest feeds off the inside strength of All-ACC center Tim Duncan (16.9 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 4.1 bpg) and the penetration and outside shooting of All-ACC guard Randolph Childress (20.1 ppg, 5.2 apg), who has recovered from the flu. The Cowboys counter with Big Eight Player of the Year Bryant Reeves (21.6 ppg, 9.5 rpg), their 7-foot, 292-pound center, and guard Randy Rutherford (19.6 ppg), who sparked them to victory in last week's second round against Alabama. The Cowboys are a little bulkier. The Demon Deacons are quicker. Both teams have consistently held opponents under 40 percent shooting, and both teams take good care of the ball. Look for a low-scoring contest that could be decided by an unlikely source, like Oklahoma State G Andre Owens or Wake Forest F Travis Banks.
