Correction -- The Associated Press erroneously reported Wednesday that the Atlanta Braves released seven players. The players -- P Reese Murdaugh, P Keith Brown, P Ken Willis, IF Kevin Webb, IF Doug Wollenburg, IF Kevin Grijak and OF Barry Jones -- were sent to the Braves' minor-league camp.

Boston Red Sox -- Sent IF Felix Colon to the Detroit Tigers to complete an earlier trade. Released P Tom Cane. Called up P Glenn Carter and P Chuck Malloy from minor-league camp.

Basketball

Atlanta Hawks -- Activated G/F Craig Ehlo from the injured list. Released G Morlon Wiley.

Houston Rockets -- Activated F Robert Horry from the injured list. Placed C Zan Tabak (gastroenteritis, vertigo) on the injured list.

Seattle SuperSonics -- Placed G Vincent Askew (foot) on the injured list. Activated F Dontonio Wingfield from the injured list.

Arkansas State -- Fired Nelson Catalina, men's basketball coach. Named Dickey Nutt men's basketball coach.

DePaul -- Announced that sophomore Dwayne Austin is leaving the basketball team and will transfer to another school.

Long Beach State -- Signed basketball coach Seth Greenberg to a five-year contract.

Buffalo Bills -- Re-signed restricted free-agent S Henry Jones to a five-year contract.

New York Rangers -- Recalled D Mattias Norstrom from AHL Binghamton. Claimed C Daniel Lacroix off waivers from the Boston Bruins.

Quebec Nordiques -- Recalled LW Dwayne Norris and D Janne Laukkanen from AHL Cornwall.

San Jose Sharks -- Traded C Todd Elik to the St. Louis Blues for F Kevin Miller. Promoted Dean Lombardi to executive vice president and director of hockey operations and Chuck Grillo to executive vice president and director of player personnel.

Washington Capitals -- Sent C Jason Allison to AHL Portland for

a two-week conditioning assignment.

Major Indoor Lacrosse League -- Named three Thunder's Bob Martino (13 goals, 7 assists), Mark Millon (13, 8) and Tim Hormes (12, 5) to the MILL second team.
