An unidentified man was killed last night when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross Park Heights Avenue.

Pedestrian error was ruled the cause of the accident and no charges were to be placed against the driver.

Police said the man, who may have been drinking, was crossing west to east in the 5200 block of Park Heights Ave. near Hayward Avenue around 10 p.m. when he was hit by a northbound 1985 Honda driven by a 16-year-old girl whose name was not disclosed because of her age.

Police said the impact drove the man onto the hood of the car, which traveled about 100 feet before it stopped and the man's body rolled off and onto the pavement.

The man, who was in his late 20s to early 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver was taken to Sinai Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The man's fingerprints were to be taken at the state medical examiner's office in an effort to identify him.
