One man was killed and another critically injured early today when the Acura Integra they were riding in on McDonogh Road near Painters Mill Road went out of control and crashed into a utility pole, Baltimore County police said.

Officer Gerard Orndorff, of the Western Traffic Division, said the names of the men were withheld pending notification of relatives.

He reported, however, that both men were 20 years old and lived in the Owings Mills area.

Officer Orndorff said the men were westbound on McDonough Road adjacent to the McDonogh School campus around 1 a.m. and were heading home from a party when the driver lost control of the car on a curve, crossed over the center line, bounced off a curb, and re-entered the westbound lane before crashing into the pole.

Officer Orndorff said the car was demolished and that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries.

He said the passenger was airlifted from the scene by a state police Med-Evac helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma JTC Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Officer Orndorff said a car containing four other young people who also attended the party was ahead of the victims' car shortly before the Acura passed them at a high speed and crashed.

The officer said the occupants of the other car witnessed the crash.

An autopsy was scheduled today to determine if alcohol contributed to the accident.
