Two people arrested late Saturday night by the Carroll County Narcotics Task Force remained at the Carroll County Detention Center yesterday evening on multiple drug charges.

Detective Sgt. Andrew McKendrick said in court documents the officers went to a home in the 1400 block of Placid Drive in Sykesville at 11 p.m. Saturday with a search warrant and recovered crack cocaine, packaging material, glass vials and an electronic scale. Police said that while they were at the home, a man pulled into the driveway and entered the house. Police searched the truck the man was driving and recovered a loaded 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, which, they said, was less than 18 inches long.

Beverly Carol Moran, 35, of the Placid Drive address and Charles Henry Schultz, 46, who did not give police a permanent address, were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and paraphernalia and violation of a drug-free zone because the house is within 1,000 feet of Freedom Elementary. Mr. Schultz also was charged with possession of an unregistered sawed-off shotgun.
