Outlook: Coppin State won its first postseason game outside its conference tournament Wednesday, beating St. Joseph's, 75-68 in overtime, in a first-round game. The Eagles, who had trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, did not take their first lead until 2:06 remained in regulation. Stephen Stewart (15.0 ppg, 7 rpg) scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. South Florida advanced to the round of 16 with a 74-67 victory over St. John's on Thursday. The Bulls are led by junior PG Chucky Atkins (16.8 ppg, 6.5 apg) and senior forwards Jesse Salters (14.6 ppg, 7.8 rpg) and Jerome Robinson (14.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg). Against St. John's, Atkins had 19 points and seven assists and backup freshman PG Brian Lamb scored a career-high 14 points. Six-foot-9 junior C Donzel Rush has averaged 14 points and nearly nine rebounds in his past six games. Without a strong perimeter game, South Florida will likely try to pound the ball inside and wear down the Eagles.
