A newborn girl was found abandoned outside a convenience store in North Point early today, Baltimore County police said.

The child, police said, was found inside a box at the High's dairy store in the 4000 block of North Point Blvd. Her umbilical cord was still attached.

A police spokesman said someone found the child about 5:30 a.m. and carried her inside. A store employee called police.

A Fire Department ambulance was dispatched, and it took the girl to Bayview Medical Center. The infant's condition was not immediately available.

Police were canvassing the area seeking anyone having information about the girl or who abandoned her.

Anyone having such information was urged to call police communications at 887-2198 or the North Point Precinct at 887-7320.
