Today's Games Ncaa Tournament East Regional

March 19, 1995

At Albany, N.Y.

Game 1: Stanford (20-8) vs. Massachusetts (27-4).

Time: 12:25 p.m.

Outlook: UMass beat St. Peter's in the first round, but the Minutemen allowed the 15th-seeded Peacocks to lead until midway through the second half. Then UMass held St. Peter's without a basket the final 11 minutes. Marcus Camby led the Minutemen with 25 points and four blocked shots. Stanford came from five points behind in the final five minutes to beat North Carolina-Charlotte in the opening round. The Cardinal did it with nearly flawless free-throw shooting and patience on offense.

Game 2: Tulsa (23-7) vs. Old Dominion (21-11).

Time: Approximately 2:55 p.m.

Outlook: Old Dominion, the 14th seed, will need to make a quick recovery after its stunning triple-overtime victory over third-seeded Villanova in a game that lasted three hours. Tulsa is probably somewhat fatigued, too. The Golden Hurricane didn't clinch its victory over Illinois until the final minute of the game, which ended at nearly 1 a.m. Saturday because of the length of the ODU-Villanova game.
