Fleet Financial Group -- Named the new arena, scheduled to replace Boston Garden next season, FleetCenter.
Denver Nuggets -- Announced that the proposed 19,200-seat stadium and entertainment center would be named the Pepsi Center.
Baseball
Boston Red Sox -- Named Jim Rice hitting coach.
Basketball
Charlotte Hornets -- Activated F Kenny Gattison from the injured list. Placed former Washington Bullets G Michael Adams on the injured list with a strained left calf.
Cleveland Cavaliers -- Activated G Mark Price from the injured list. Placed G John Battle on the injured list. Signed F Fred Roberts for the remainder of the season.
Miami Heat -- Signed G Kevin Pritchard to a second 10-day contract.
New York Knicks -- Placed F Anthony Mason on the suspended list for conduct detrimental to the team and repeated violation of team rules.
College
Clemson -- Dropped wrestling, saying it could not make a long-term commitment to the sport because of a dwindling budget.
South Alabama -- Named Bill Musselman men's basketball coach and signed him to a four-year contract.
Football
NFL -- Awarded the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants the maximum of four compensatory picks in next month's draft for their losses during the 1994 free-agent signing period. A total of 27 extra picks were awarded, all between the third and seventh rounds.
Jacksonville Jaguars -- Signed unrestricted free-agent OL Dave Widell, a seven-year NFL veteran who has played with the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos, for $2.7 million over three years.
New Orleans Saints -- Rescinded a contract offer to G Scott Adams.
Washington Redskins -- Signed unrestricted free-agent LB Darrick Brownlow, who had been with the Dallas Cowboys.
Shreveport Pirates (CFL) -- Signed QB Billy Joe Tolliver, who played last season with the Houston Oilers.

Buffalo Sabres -- Returned D Mark Astley to AHL Rochester.
Detroit Red Wings -- Sent D Aaron Ward to AHL Adirondack.
New Jersey Devils -- Sent C Reid Simpson and D Kevin Dean to AHL Albany.
St. Louis Blues -- Recalled F Craig Johnson from IHL Peoria. Sent Ian Laperriere, center, to Peoria.
Toronto Maple Leafs -- Reassigned F Dixon Ward to AHL St. John's.

Dayton Dynamo (NPSL) -- Announced that the team has been purchased by the IHL Cincinnati Cyclones and will relocate to Cincinnati at the end of the season.
