March 14, 1995

A masked man grabbed a Columbia woman as she walked to her apartment building and took her cash early Friday, Howard County police said.

The victim was not injured in the robbery in the 12200 block of Green Meadow Drive in Columbia's Harper's Choice village. The suspect did not show a weapon, police said.

According to police reports, the woman had just parked her car about 12:30 a.m. Friday when the suspect jumped from bushes and demanded her money.

After the woman screamed, the suspect grabbed at her purse.

After the woman gave him her money, the man began counting the money and the woman ran away, police said.

The suspect is described as a muscular black male, 6 feet tall in his early to mid 20s, weighing about 160 pounds, with a very deep voice. The victim said he wore a black or gray knit ski hat, a blue jacket, dark pants, dark tennis shoes and a blue bandanna over his face.
