RADFORD, Va. -- Big South Player of the Year Trinette Tucker was 3-for-15 from the field. Towson State was out-rebounded, 47-30.

But in a game that was by no means textbook, No. 2 seed Towson State defeated seventh-seeded Liberty, 77-69, last night the quarterfinals of the women's Big South tournament at Radford University.

After cutting the deficit to 68-65 with 2:42 seconds remaining, Liberty (7-20) got no closer.

Tucker hit three of four free throws in the final 35 seconds to provide the final margin of victory.

E9 Tucker led Towson (15-12) with a game-high 21 points.

Coastal Carolina 65, UMBC 55
