Park's Hilton Area to be open every day

The Hilton Area of Patapsco Valley State Park, which features a tire playground for children, will now be open every day.

Weather permitting, the area will be open from 10 a.m. until sunset throughout the year. From March through October, a service charge of $2 per person may be imposed on weekends and holidays.

Children under 16 and adults over 62 will not be charged.

The tire playground was built in the spring last year by volunteers from the community and park staff from 4,000 scrap tires.

The playground features tire structures made into the Capitol dome, Fort Meade, a Maryland crab, the Thomas Viaduct, a 25-foot ship and the USS Annapolis.

Directions to the playground: U.S. 40, Interstate 95 or Frederick Road to South Rolling Road to Hilton Avenue. Information: 461-5005.
