March 08, 1995

A Glen Burnie youth was in a coma yesterday and a Glen Burnie man in serious condition at the Maryland Schock Trauma Center after the 1987 Nissan 300ZX in which they were riding spun out of control Monday morning on Freetown Road and smashed into a tree, county police said.

Police said Antwone Darrell Payne, 16, of the 7800 block of Spencer Road was heading west on Freetown Road about 10 a.m. three-tenths of a mile from Solley Road when he lost control of the car.

The vehicle spun and slid sideways off the left side of the road and crashed into a tree on the passenger side.

Both driver and passenger suffered head and chest injuries, police said. Mr. Payne was in a coma at the trauma center.

The passenger, Carlos Maurice Pearmon, 21, of the 8000 block of Solley Road, was in serious condition.

Police attributed the accident to excessive speed.

The Nissan is registered to Sylvester Nathaniel Payne, who lives at thesame address as Antwone Payne.
