Kessler defended his 140-pound title at the state 1A-2A championships with two decisions and a major decision. In two seasons, Kessler, a sophomore, has yet to lose in 72 matches, becoming the first wrestler in the state to accomplish that feat.

Mount Hebron


Mosley led Mount Hebron to the state 3A East Region championship, totaling 59 points, 29 rebounds, 14 assists and 17 steals in wins over Carver (74-43), Broadneck (38-35) and Howard (59-47). The junior had 31 points in the Howard game, hitting 14 of 15 field goals.

Kimberly Smith



Smith, a senior guard headed for Georgetown, paced the Doves to their third straight state 4A North Region championship last week. In two games, she had 34 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and 12 steals in victories over Dulaney (86-31) and Lake Clifton (75-46).

At the end of the school year, each player chosen as an Athlete of the Week will be invited to a luncheon, where one male and one female Athlete of the Year will be chosen.
