Film club launches tomorrow

March 04, 1995|By Stephen Hunter

Cinema Sundays at the Charles, a film lover's club that shows a new, as yet unreleased film which is introduced and discussed afterward by a critic, holds its first screening at 10:30 tomorrow morning at the theater, 1711 N. Charles St.

More than 200 have already joined the club, which has been modeled on successful operations in Washington, New York and Boston.

Part of the "fun" of the club is guessing the title. Of course we'd never be the ones to give it away, because that would be a real "crummy" trick, but we might drop a hint or two if hard-pressed.

Individual tickets for each show if available, will cost $13; the entire three-film series costs, by subscription, $30, includes gourmet coffee, bagels and pastries.

Founder and president George Udel says, "We're expecting as many as 300 tomorrow. Since the Charles has 486 seats, there should be plenty of room."
