San Francisco Giants -- Released P Pat Fetty.

NBA -- Named Washington Bullets F Juwan Howard Rookie of the Month.

Atlanta Hawks -- Signed G Ennis Whatley to a 10-day contract. Announced that G Jim Les will miss at least two games with an injury to his left foot.

Boston Celtics -- Signed G James Blackwell to a 10-day contract.

Detroit Pistons -- Placed F Bill Curley (severely sprained right ankle) on the injured list. Activated F Ivano Newbill from the injured list.

Houston Rockets -- Announced that F Robert Horry will miss up to two more weeks because of an inflamed facet joint on the left side of his lower back.

Los Angeles Lakers -- Signed F Randolph Keys to a 10-day contract.

College

Albright -- Named Ken Tyler men's basketball coach.

Florida -- Announced the resignation of Charlie Strong, assistant coach and defensive tackles assistant, to become defensive line coach at Notre Dame.

Georgia Tech -- Named Stan Hixon wide receivers coach.

Houston -- Announced that all 14 athletic teams

will compete in the Southwest Conference in its final year of existence in 1995-96.

Long Beach State -- Signed men's basketball coach Seth Greenberg to a five-year contract.

New Haven -- Announced the resignation of basketball coach Stu Grove.

Nevada-Las Vegas -- Suspended Kebu Stewart, the basketball team's leading scorer and rebounder, for the rest of the season after he admitted receiving a free pair of shoes from an agent's representative. Declared G Jermaine Smith ineligible for the same violation, but said it would appeal to the NCAA to immediately make him eligible again.

New Mexico State -- Declared G Keith Johnson (7.3 ppg, 4.4 apg) ineligible for the rest of the season for violations of athletic department policy.

Wake Forest -- Announced that men's basketball coach Thomas Snowden (20-36) is resigning.

Washington State -- Suspended TE David Knuff and linemen Mark McCloskey, Scott Sanderson and Ryan McShane indefinitely from the football team for taking part in a brawl outside a fraternity house.

Chicago Bears -- Re-signed unrestricted free-agent DT Chris Zorich to a three-year contract worth $4.85 million.

Houston Oilers -- Released WR Haywood Jeffires.

Los Angeles Raiders -- Named Bishop Harris running backs coach.

New England Patriots -- Signed unrestricted free-agent LB Bobby Abrams, who had been with the Minnesota Vikings.

New Orleans Saints -- Re-signed TE Kirk Botkin, WR Tyrone Johnson and T Alan Kline to one-year contracts.
