$2,100 in liquor, cigarettes are stolen

March 01, 1995

Thieves stole more than $2,100 worth of liquor and cigarettes from Ye Olde Farm Spirit Shoppe on Monday morning, after the owner had asked the alarm company not to call county police because of the high number of recent false alarms, authorities said.

Officer Robert Thomas went to the store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road about 1:40 a.m., after an anonymous tip that the alarm was sounding. Officer Thomas found the front glass door had been broken by a large rock, police said.

Dorothy Athey, 66, the owner of the store, reported that $1,780 worth of liquor and 25 cartons of cigarettes worth $381 were stolen, police said.
