Leberknight to leave Balto. Co. board post

February 28, 1995|By From Staff Reports

Baltimore County school board member Alan M. Leberknight will not seek reappointment when his five-year term expires June 30.

Mr. Leberknight, president and chief commercial banking officer for First Fidelity's Bank of Baltimore division, became board president in July 1993, when the board and Superintendent Stuart Berger were under fire from unhappy parents and teachers.

He resigned that post in July, citing personal and professional responsibilities.

Another board seat will be vacant in July, when Rosalie Hellman's term expires. She has served more than 12 years.

Gov. Parris N. Glendening will appoint new members.

The School Board Nominating Convention of Baltimore County will submit nominees this spring, but the governor is not bound by the recommendations.
