9 county food establishments cited for health violations

County health inspectors visited 98 establishments that prepare or sell food during the first two weeks of the year and cited nine for violations.

The inspectors monitor nine sanitary and safety items that are considered most likely to contribute to illness. Failure to immediately correct deficiencies can result in a facility being closed.

The nine establishments cited are:

* American Legion No. 40, 500 block of Fifth Ave., Glen Burnie, food not properly cooled.

* Burke's Barnyard, 800 block of Compass Way, Annapolis, food not held at proper temperature. Re-inspection required.

* Cantler's Riverside Inn, 400 block of Forest Beach Road, Annapolis, food not adequately cooked or reheated.

* Christos Liquors, 7100 block of B & A Blvd., Ferndale, food not held at proper temperature.

* Crofton Country Club, 1600 block of Crofton Parkway, food not held at proper temperature.

* Machoian's Poultry, 2300 block of Forest Drive, Annapolis, food not held at proper temperature.

* Nick's Corner Bakery, 5800 block of Deale Churchton Road, Deale, food not properly cooled.

* Roy Rodgers, Annapolis Mall, food not held at proper temperature.

* Subway No. 6131, 7900 block B&A Blvd., Glen Burnie, food not held at proper temperature.
