Outlook: Towson State (2-5 in the Big South) is struggling defensively, allowing 82 points per game, and has lost five of its past six road games. Ralph Blalock has averaged 23 points in his past four games. UNC-Asheville (3-3) is 5-3 at home.

UMBC (7-10) at WINTHROP (5-11)

Site: Winthrop Coliseum, Rock Hill, S.C.

Outlook: UMBC (4-3 in the Big South) has won six of nine. Sixth man Artie Walker (10.1 ppg) has averaged nearly 12 points per conference game. Winthrop is 2-5 in the league.

LEHIGH (8-9) at NAVY (10-7)

Outlook: Navy (3-3 in the Patriot League) won only its second game on the road and its first at Fordham, defeating the Rams, 62-60, on Wednesday. Plebe Michael Heary has scored 46 points in his last two games. Navy is 15-3 against Lehigh (3-3 in Patriot League) in Annapolis.

MOUNT ST. MARY'S (8-8) at RIDER (9-6)

Site: Alumni Gym, Lawrenceville, N.J.

Time: 3 p.m.

Outlook: Mount St. Mary's (6-2 in the Northeast Conference) can move into first place with a win over league-leading Rider. The Mount has been idle since Jan. 21, when the Mountaineers defeated Wagner by 29. Rider (6-1), also idle since Jan. 21, has a half-game lead over the Mountaineers and Monmouth in the Northeast.

DUKE (10-8) at No. 8 MARYLAND (15-3)

Site: Cole Field House, College Park

Time: 4 p.m.

TV/Radio: WBAL (1090 AM); ESPN 2 and Chs. 7, 54.

Outlook: The Terps will need to hit their open jumpers if Duke double-teams All-American center Joe Smith (20.3 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.2 bpg) the way it did last season. Maryland is the nation's field-goal percentage leader (52.8 percent) and the Blue Devils have allowed their ACC opponents to shoot a league-high 48.7 percent. All-American Cherokee Parks (20.5 ppg, 9.4 rpg) leads Duke.

LOYOLA (5-11) AT ST. PETER'S (10-7)

Site: Yanitelli Center, Jersey City, N.J.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: Loyola (1-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) has lost three straight and six of seven. Senior F B. J. Pendleton (13.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg) has scored seven points over his past four games. St. Peter's (4-1) leads the series, 24-13.

MORGAN STATE (3-14) at UMES (7-12)

Site: Tawes Gymnasium, Princess Anne

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: Morgan State (3-4 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) has dropped two straight. UMES (3-6) has lost five of its past six games.
