Outlook: UMBC (3-3 in the Big South) has dropped three of its past four games. Opponents have scored over 70 points in four straight games against the Retrievers. Tony Thompson, who has scored 54 points in his past three games, leads UMBC in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (5.8). UNC-Asheville (3-2) has won three of its past four games. Victor Newman (9.3 ppg) has scored in double figures in four of his past five games. The Bulldogs are 5-2 at home.

Outlook: Towson State (1-4 in the Big South) continues to struggle against conference opponents, losing four of its past five. The Tigers are being out-rebounded by an average of five per game. Ralph Blalock has averaged 21 points and 4.5 assists in his past four games. Shooting 41 percent in January, Winthrop (1-5) has lost seven of eight. The Eagles yield 86.7 points per game with opponents shooting 50 percent. Winthrop's LaShawn Coulter averages three three-pointers and 16.9 points per game.

Outlook: Coppin State (5-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) has won five straight to take over first place in the league. The Eagles have the top scoring defense in the MEAC, holding opponents to 70 points per game. UMES (3-5) stopped a five-game losing streak with a 69-61 victory over North Carolina A&T on Monday. The Hawks, who are last in the MEAC in rebounding, rely on the scoring of Aaron McKinney (15.4) and Terrell Harris (13.5).

MORGAN STATE (3-13) at HOWARD (5-10)

Outlook: Morgan State (3-3 in the MEAC) had its three-game win streak stopped with an 87-67 loss to Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. The Bears receive balanced scoring from Terrence Wright (12.0, 61.2 percent shooting) and Brandon Battle (11.5). Howard (4-1) fell a half-game behind league-leading Coppin State, losing to Bethune-Cookman by 16 Monday. The Bison shoots 39 percent but allows opponents to shoot 55 percent. Grady Livingston tops Howard in rebounding (6.8) and blocks (2.8).
