January 24, 1995

A Severna Park man was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged in the attempted theft of a $100 portable radio from the Montgomery Ward store in Glen Burnie, county police said yesterday.

Leeza Grim, 27, a special police officer employed by the store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, saw a man take the radio shortly before 6 p.m. and try to leave without paying for it. She stopped him at the door and arrested him. A Northern District officer arrived soon thereafter and took the suspect into custody, police said.

James Coates, 19, of the first block of Hoyle Lane was charged with misdemeanor theft, police said.
