25 Years Ago (week of Jan. 11-17, 1970)

* County Executive Omar Jones appointed a three-member Urban Renewal Committee to represent Howard County in negotiations with HUD concerning the new Hilltop Housing Project in Ellicott City. It was hoped that the county could obtain federal rent subsidies from HUD which would enable more Fel's Lane area families to move into the new residences.

50 Years Ago (week of Jan. 14-20, 1945)

* Under the auspices of a number of local civic clubs, an organizational meeting for area teen-agers was held in the recreation room of the Howard County Freezer Locker. Officers were elected, committees were formed, and a constitution was adopted. After the business portion of the meeting was over, the attendees enjoyed games and dancing.
