Western Tech gets by Carver A&T Meade wins

In a battle of two Baltimore County teams in their first varsity seasons, Mike Thomas scored 11 points and Dwane Murray added 10 yesterday as Western Tech (2-9) edged visiting Carver A&T, 44-43.

Patrick Williams scored 17 for Carver A&T (1-11).

* Meade 73, Glen Burnie 63: Levar Robinson led host Meade (4-9) with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Meade built an 18-9 first quarter lead, led 31-21 at the half and 57-39 after three quarters. Desmond Dailey led the Gophers (7-6) with 31.

* Dunbar 97, Carver 70: Tommy Polley scored 19 and Marvis Thornton added 14 as No. 2 Dunbar (12-0) defeated visiting Carver (3-10). Jason Johnson led Carver with 17.

* St. Frances 59, Mt. St. Joseph 55: Mark Karcher scored 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead host and No. 3 St. Frances (15-1) over Mount St. Joseph. Danny Whye led the Gaels with 18.

* Broadneck 85, Southern-AA 50: Jamaine Young led No. 7 Broadneck (11-1) with 24 points in their win over host Southern-AA.

Jason Smith added 17 for Broadneck while Matt Thomas led Southern-AA with 13.

* Milford Mill 87, Loch Raven 59: Keon Sellman scored 25 and Blanchard Hurd added 20 as No. 12 Milford Mill (10-2) topped Loch Raven.

The Millers came back from a three-point first quarter deficit by outscoring the Raiders 18-4 in the second period.

* Severn 82, Gilman 62: Alhamisi Simms scored 22 points and Jaylonnie Booth added 21 as No. 15 Severn (13-4) defeated host Gilman.

* Cardinal Gibbons 63, Towson Catholic 61, OT: Michael Simmons' follow with 33 seconds left lifted visiting and No. 17 Cardinal Gibbons over Towson Catholic. Junior Josh Davalli led Gibbons (13-6) with 25 points. Charlie Harrison had 16 for Towson Catholic (5-11).

* Overlea 74, Catonsville 51: Troy Williams scored 21 as host Overlea (9-1) won. Herman Cooper led Catonsville (4-5) with 13.

* Woodlawn 95, Lansdowne 75: Keion Carpenter scored 28 points and Davon Jackson pulled down 13 rebounds to lead host Woodlawn (9-4) over Lansdowne (4-7).

* Aberdeen 74, Havre de Grace 70: Jimmy Greene and Tommie Mims each scored 20 as host Aberdeen (9-3) won.

* Fallston 64, Joppatowne 58: Rick Shearer had 20 as host Fallston (9-4) downed Joppatowne (4-8).

* C. Milton Wright 69, Harford Tech 48: Chris Rueckert scored 20 points as host C. Milton Wright (8-4) won its seventh straight. Lechea Johns led Harford Tech with 23.

* North County 71, Northeast 65: Lou Brown scored 15 as North County (8-5) defeated host Northeast (3-9). Delray Brooks led Northeast with 16 points.

* Perry Hall 55, Dulaney 53: Chris Kelly scored 13 as Perry Hall (8-4) edged visiting Dulaney.

* Towson 61, Hereford 55: Tim Womack scored 25 to lead Towson (6-3) over visiting Hereford.

* Sparrows Point 64, Chesapeake-BC 37: Griffin Dingle scored 20 points and Derell Smith added 17 as host Sparrows Point (7-5) won.

* Franklin 48, Parkville 36: Mangus St. Ange had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead host Franklin (6-4) over winless Parkville (0-10). Ryan Woods led Parkville with 11.

* Owings Mills 79, Pikesville 58: Terry Sims scored 26 to lead host Owings Mills (5-7). Sam Altman led Pikesville with 22 points.

* Edgewood 50, North Harford 46: Clayton Harrington scored 15 and Damion Smothers added 13 to help Edgewood (5-6) past visiting North Harford.

* Eastern Tech 57, Kenwood 55: Sammy Plater scored 23 as host Eastern Tech edged Kenwood.

* Dundalk 80, Patapsco 57: Danny Thorpe was one of three Owls in double figures with 14 as Dundalk downed host Patapsco, despite Aaron Burleson's 21 for the Patriots.

* Park 69, Curley 59: Jon Grisson had 13 and Thurman Quigley added 11 as visiting Park won. Curley's Jason Karolkowski had 21.

* Northern 91, City 73: Anthony Lee scored 18 for host Northern (5-6). Tyon Harris had 30 for City.

* Northwestern 93, Forest Park 90: Tyrone Bond scored 32 as host Northwestern (1-6) defeated Forest Park for its first victory this season.

* Severna Park 64, Chesapeake-AA 58: Todd Batty led a balanced attack with 17 points for host Severna Park (3-10).

* McDonogh 50, John Carroll 45: Bobby Sabelhaus had 18 as visiting McDonogh (5-8) won.

* Spalding 79, Annapolis Area Christian 66: Chad Langville had 23 to lead host Spalding (6-9).

* Arlington Baptist 71, Capitol Chrisitian 64: Ziyad Brown scored 19 points as Arlington Baptist (15-2) defeated host Capitol Christian (8-6).

* Harford Christian 85, Chapelgate 51: Corey Donahue scored 21 points to lead host Harford Christian (7-5).

* Glenelg Country School 84, Perry Hall Christian 33: Bernie Dennison scored 21 points in the first quarter and 33 points for the game as host Glenelg Country School (9-2) won.

* Granite Baptist 63, Capitol Baptist (Del) 60: Eddie Huntley scored 22, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked four shots to lead host Granite Baptist (9-4) over Capitol (Dela.) Baptist (9-1).

Ben Baab added 20 points, seven steals, and five assists for Granite Baptist.

* Harbor City 86, Venable 31: Damien Jones scored 19 points to lead Harbor City (5-1) over host Venable (0-6).

* Red Lion 71, Carroll Christian 65: Frank Hawkins scored 35 points as Red Lion (18-3) downed host Carroll Christian (8-3). Ben Lieb led Carroll Christian with 22 points.
