Hopkins ends its 10-game slide with 71-68 upset of Washington

Freshman forward Greg Roehrig scored 23 points to lead host Johns Hopkins as it broke a 10-game losing streak with a 71-68 upset of Washington College in a Centennial Conference game.

The Blue Jays (2-12, 2-2) hit eight of 12 free throws in the last minute in holding on for the win.

Derek Cuff led the Shoremen (9-6, 4-1) with 16 points.

* Western Maryland 85, Wesley 69: Daeviid St. Rose (Patapsco) scored a career high 23 points as Western Maryland (6-9) broke a five-game losing streak with a win over visiting Wesley (2-15).

* Monmouth 72, Mount St. Mary's 55: Jack Gordon scored 21 points to lead host Monmouth (7-7, 5-1) over Mount St. Mary's (7-8, 5-2) in a Northeast Conference game.

* Virginia State 95, Bowie State 85: Douglas Hines and Reggie Frisby each scored 20 points as Virginia State (9-7) defeated visiting Bowie State (4-11). Warren Wright led the Bulldogs with 23 points.

* Montgomery-Takoma Park 94, Baltimore CCC 93, OT: Umaru Pitt hit a 60-foot jumper with one second remaining in overtime to lift Montgomery-Takoma Park (9-7) over host Baltimore City Community College (11-4), spoiling Baltimore's debut in its newly remodeled gym.


* Coppin State 73, Bethune-Cookman 51: Natasha Parks scored 17 points to lead Coppin State over visiting Bethune-Cookman in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.

* Johns Hopkins 86, Washington College 70: Julie Anderson contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to lead host Johns Hopkins past Washington College. Five Blue Jays (10-4) scored in double figures.

* Florida A&M 106, Morgan State 67: Cathy Robinson scored 31 points as Florida A&M (11-3, 5-0) defeated host Morgan State (1-12, 1-4) in a MEAC game.

* Salisbury State 84, College of Notre Dame 63: Amy Fenzel scored 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds as Salisbury State (9-4) defeated visiting College of Notre Dame (5-6).

* Goucher 64, Catholic 49: Sarah Weaver (Towson) scored 17 points and Cassandra Clemons (Loch Raven) added 13 and nine rebounds, leading host Goucher College (7-6, 3-1) in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

* Bowie State 63, Virginia State 60, OT: Anita Creek scored 14 points as Bowie State (10-4) defeated host Virginia State (3-8).
