Girl, 17, hurt when car, truck collide

January 19, 1995

A 17-year-old Sykesville girl was taken to the Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown after her car collided with a pickup truck on Liberty Road at Old Liberty Road yesterday, police said.

Her name and details about her condition were not available yesterday evening.

State police said the teen-ager, who was taken to the hospital for a checkup, was driving a Chevrolet Beretta east on Liberty Road at 3 p.m. when a westbound Toyota pickup truck made a left turn into the Chevrolet.

The truck crashed into the engine compartment and the windshield of the car.

The air bag of the Beretta inflated and lessened the driver's injuries, police said.

Investigators said the Chevrolet was knocked into another car waiting at the traffic light on Old Liberty Road and driven by Dana Carbox, 26, of Sykesville. Neither Ms. Carbox nor her infant, in a safety seat, was injured.

Tfc. Carol Dorn charged Chad Counts, 16, of Sykesville, the driver of the Toyota, with failure to give the right of way.
