Terps women's team suspends Williams

January 18, 1995|By Milton Kent

Kwana Williams, who started eight of 15 Maryland women's games, has been suspended indefinitely from the squad for a violation of team policy, the school announced yesterday.

Maryland coach Chris Weller declined to comment on the suspension, or on whether Williams, a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard who was averaging 10.1 points and 3.0 assists, would be reinstated this season.

Williams' suspension follows that of junior college transfer Demetria Tutt, who was suspended after the team's loss to Virginia Tech to open the season. Tutt, a point guard, has left the university.
