Eldersburg starts Read-a-Saurus reading program

Eldersburg Elementary School's Read-a-Saurus Celebration '95 started Jan. 3 with a goal of having the entire school community read 25,000 books by the time school ends in June.

Participants will receive credit for each book, or every 50 pages in a chapter book, read. Students will receive a commemorative certificate for every 10 books read.

For every 100 books read by a grade level, the group will receive one new book for its class library. When the goal of 25,000 books is met, the entire school will enjoy an ice cream sundae party.

POLICE

* Eldersburg: Two residents of the 7200 block of Orchid Lane reported to state police that someone broke windows of their automobiles and stole stereo and compact disc systems between 12:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday. They estimated the theft and damage at $1,600.

FIRE

* Gamber: Gamber was dispatched to investigate the report of a fire in the 2800 block of Country Woods Court at 10:32 p.m. Friday. Units were out for 36 minutes.
