Holy Cross ends Navy's streak at 2

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Gordon Hamilton scored 28 points and Rob Feaster added 25 points and six assists, leading Holy Cross to an 87-77 victory over Navy in a Patriot League game yesterday, ending the Midshipmen's two-game winning streak.

Michael Heary led Navy in scoring for the third consecutive game with 23 points. Wes Cooper had 15 points and six rebounds, as Navy (8-6, 1-2) out-rebounded Holy Cross 44-31.

But Hamilton and Feaster were the difference for Holy Cross (8-5, 3-0), which maintained at least a share of first place in the league. Hamilton led all scorers with 28 points. Feaster, the country's sixth-leading scorer at 25 points a game, matched his average.

Holy Cross made 38 of 45 free throws, including 28 of 31 in the second half. Feaster and Hamilton were a combined 19-for-22. Navy was 14-for-23.

Holy Cross shot 15-for-31 to take a 44-35 halftime lead. In the second half, the Crusaders were 6-for-18 to the Mids' 15-for-39, but Navy had 13 free throws in the second half.

Pat Tutwiler had 11 points for Holy Cross. James Norris had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Navy, which is 1-5 on the road.
