25 Years Ago (Week of Jan. 4-10, 1970):

* A joint survey conducted by the Rouse Co.and the U.S. Soil Conservation District showed that 19 percent of the total reservoir capacity of Wilde Lake had already been lost to sedimentation, and an additional 16 percent would probably be lost by the time construction within the lake's watershed area was completed. As a result of this study, the Rouse Co. initiated a sediment-control program in the Village of Long Reach, where major construction was still in the early stages.

50 Years Ago (Week of Jan. 7-13, 1945):

* Workers at the C. R. Daniels cotton duck manufacturing plant were addressed by several U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps veterans. They stressed the importance of the material produced by Daniels for the war effort.
