Coppin handles UMES, 72-48

PRINCESS ANNE -- Stephen Stewart scored 19 points and pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds to lead Coppin State to a 72-48 victory over UMES in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game last night.

After shooting only 8-for-29 in the opening half, the Eagles (5-8, 2-1) went on a 20-10 run at the start of the second half to take a 46-29 lead. Michael Thomas scored six of his 10 points during the run. Coppin State shot 17-for-32 in the second half.

Sidney Goodman added 12 points for Coppin State, which has won 34 of its past 35 regular-season conference games. Kenya Mobley led UMES (6-8, 2-2) with 11 points and added seven rebounds.
