Moten leads UMBC to 55-49 win STATE WOMEN

Sophomore guard Tori Moten scored a game-high 16 points, pacing host UMBC (5-5, 1-0) to a 55-49 Big South Conference women's basketball triumph over Charleston Southern (2-8, 1-3) yesterday.

The Retrievers out-rebounded the guests, 58-36.

* Mount St. Mary's 86, St. Francis (N.Y.) 41: Melissa Cuneo scored 19 points to lead Mount St. Mary's (7-5) to a victory over St. Francis (N.Y.) (5-7).

* Goucher 80, York 67: Sarah Weaver (Towson) and Alice Kennedy each scored 15 points, leading host Goucher (5-6, 1-1) past York (4-5, 0-1) in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

* Bowie State 61, N.C. Central 52: Brandey Lemons scored 16, leading Bowie State (8-4) past visiting North Carolina Central (2-9).

* Washington College 59, Wesley 46: Eboni Taylor scored 14 points, leading visiting Washington College (5-5) past Wesley (4-7).

* Coppin State 68, UMES 60: Rene Doctor scored 23 points, leading visiting Coppin State past Maryland-Eastern Shore.
