Funeral for Brown, ex-BCCC star, today

David Brown, 23, who starred at Baltimore City Community College before transferring to Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, N.C., this season, was killed Saturday during an argument at a stoplight on Russell Street.

There will be a viewing at 10:30 a.m. today at Fountain Baptist Church, 1200 E. Monument St. Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to noon. The funeral service will follow.

Brown and three friends were on their way to watch a Georgetown basketball game at USAir Arena. Around 1:15 p.m., they apparently exchanged words with two men in a blue sedan with North Carolina tags who drove up next to their tan car, police said. One of the men in the blue car fired four to five times, killing Brown. Robert Frazier, also of Baltimore, was wounded.

Brown averaged 24.2 points and was named to the 1993-94 All-Maryland JuCo team.
