SHOOTING: Western District -- A 20-year-old man, whose address was not known, was shot in the abdomen while standing in the 600 block of N. Carey St. Wednesday night. The man was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center and admitted in critical but stable condition. Police had made no arrest and knew of no motive for the shooting.

THEFT: Central District -- Police were seeking two women who entered a house in the 2000 block of Druid Hill Ave. Wednesday and stole an Independence card.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a resident of the 5400 block of Gist Ave. of her purse and $60 in the 3900 block of Rockfield Ave. Wednesday.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 3600 block of Yennar Lane in Randallstown, Baltimore County, was in the 4400 block of Liberty Heights Ave. Wednesday when he was attacked by two men who robbed him of $60 after striking him with a piece of wood.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Someone entered a house in the 2400 block of Liberty Heights Ave. Wednesday after kicking in the kitchen door and stole a VCR, antique telephone and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, all valued at more than $800.

THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a 19-year-old woman who attempted to leave the Giant market in the 700 block of W. 40th St. Wednesday without paying for nearly $18 worth of candy.

THEFT/ARREST: Northern District -- A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with breaking into a 1990 Honda parked in the 3000 block of Mathews St. Wednesday and stealing a tote bag containing several pairs of gloves.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY: Essex Precinct -- A resident of the first block of Narbay Road was standing at the intersection of South Marlyn Road and Eastern Avenue Wednesday when a man stole her purse containing cash and property, all reportedly valued at $80.

ROBBERY: Parkville Precinct -- A gunman robbed the High's dairy store in the 8600 block of Belair Road of less than $100 Wednesday before driving off in a Chevrolet Corvette.
