Man arrested at Giant in theft of food, cigars

A man was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with trying to steal food and cigars from a Giant food store, police said.

William Bradley, 41, a special police officer, stopped the man shortly before 4 p.m. as he tried to leave the store in the 7900 block of Ritchie Highway.

He was carrying merchandise worth $14.41, police said.

Paul Edward Snyder, 25, who has no fixed address, was arrested and charged with theft under $300, police said.

Search for suspect ends in drug arrest

Police looking for an armed suspect ended up arresting a Glen Burnie man and charging him with a drug violation Tuesday night, police said.

Officer Anthony Tortorici went to an apartment complex in the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court shortly after 9 p.m., police said. The officer had received an anonymous tip that a resident was threatening another man with a 9-mm handgun. Officer Tortorici went to the apartment just as a man opened the door to leave, police said.

Officer Tortorici asked the man whether he had a gun. The man said he didn't, but the patrolman frisked him anyway. No weapon was found. The man agreed to let police search his apartment. where Officer Tortorici found two drug pipes, police said.

Eric Martin Brooks, 24, of the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
