$150 stolen from church poor boxes

January 11, 1995

Thieves ransacked a Linthicum church's office this week and stole $150 from the poor boxes, county police said.

Father Francis Zorbach, 67, the pastor of St. Philip Neri Church in the 6400 block of Orchard Road, told Officer Ralph Greaves that the theft occurred between 3 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday. There were no signs of forced entry. Father Zorbach speculated that the thieves might have slipped open the front door latch or hidden after services ended, police said.

The thieves searched cabinets in the office, removing a hammer and a screwdriver. They used the hammer to open four poor boxes, police said.
