DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Latroy Strong scored 19 points and Lamont Parrish added 18 as Bethune-Cookman topped UMES, 70-65, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game last night. Terrell Harris scored 26 for the Fighting Hawks.

Richard Leonard added 12 points, all in the second half, for the Wildcats (4-7, 2-0). Leonard also had seven assists.

Aaron McKinney had 10 points and six steals for UMES (6-7, 2-1).

The Fighting Hawks forced 21 turnovers, but shot 38 percent from the field.

"I think our team played good enough to win tonight," UMES coach Jeff Menday said. "We did what we had to do defensively, but we just didn't shoot the ball in the second half well enough to escape with a victory."
